GaySA Radio’s very first Open Mic Day happens on Saturday 9 June 2018 from 09h00 till late. The aim of the day is to give you the opportunity to add your voice to the LGBTQ+ conversation. Covering various topics and elements, we will be recording loads of content during that day to be used over the next two months for various of our daily programmes. Going forward, these Open Mic Days will take place every two months.


This fun event will be held at Lucit Restaurant ( in Pretoria. Lucit Restaurant is a function and events venue were theyare passionate about all forms of the arts, culture and theatre. The Open Mic Day will be laced with good food from the kitchen, accompanied by a great selection of wine from the well-stocked bar. The unique setting of the restaurant includes a stage, lounge, water garden, cave, waterfalls and exquisite dam.  The ambiance is romantic, classical, convivial and happy and the perfect setting for the Open Mic Days.


The GaySA Radio Open Mic Day starts at 09h00 with the recording of six fun episodes for our upcoming weekly game show,Marriage Material.  Each week a couple race against time to complete a challenge to find out how well they know each other.


In the Poetry Corner, LGBTQ+ poets have the opportunity to record their work for posterity, to be showcased on the Live Stream and in podcasts.


The day will also feature a session listening to and discussing topical issues that have been aired on GaySA Radio before or are due to be aired soon.


After a lunch time performance, the space will be given over to the LGBTQ+ Debates feature, where several well known LGBTQ+ people will be invited to air their opinions about various LGBTQ+ topics that are trending at the time.


Next up on the program is the Business Support Network, where LGBTQ+ business people are invited to introduce us their businesses. This section of the afternoon is all about chatting about business and giving each other tips and advice.


During Cocktail Hour in the early evening we play some great music and talk about art and theatre, before we end the evening off with a featured artist who gets interviewed and who performs for the crowd.


Entry to the event is free of charge, but it is essential to book a table at the restaurant. Tickets will be available
