Joburg Ballet closes a highly successful year on stage with a short season of weekend Soirées in the intimate setting of the company’s beautiful studios at Joburg Theatre on 25 and 26 November and 3 December, with all seats just R150. Coming after acclaimed performances of La Traviata, Big City, Big Dreams and Snow White, the Studio Soirées – launched in 2015 and now a popular start to the holiday season for the city’s ballet and dance lovers – showcase Joburg Ballet in both classical and contemporary work.
This year the Studio Soirées feature The Sleeping Beauty Suite and The Angel Trilogy, allowing audiences to experience the skill of the company’s dancers in a diversity of styles. The Sleeping Beauty Suitefeatures some of this famous classical ballet’s most celebrated highlights, including the Grand Pas de Deux, the Bluebird Pas de Deux and the Rose Adagio, all set to Tchaikovsky’s glittering score.
Using music by The Rolling Stones, Chopin and Mozart, choreographer Esther Nasser will stage The Angel Trilogy for the first time with Joburg Ballet, a three-part contemporary piece exploring the idea of personal energies.
Book directly with Joburg Ballet’s ticketing manager Edgar Moagi on 011 877 6898 or via email firstname.lastname@example.org; seats are limited to just over 100 per performance.
