Kroonstad LGBTQ+ community living in fear after brutal murder

The LGBTQ+ community in Kroonstad is said to be living in fear after being allegedly threatened by one of the suspects in the murder of Nonki Smous.

According to activists on the ground, three men have been arrested in connection with the murder, with two subsequently released.

It is believed that one man remains in custody, charged with robbery after being found in possession of items belonging to Smous.

Local LGBTI activist Nthabiseng Mokanyane, who is also a relative of Smous, told Mambaonline that one of the released suspects had allegedly threatened a member of the community.

Mokanyane also claims that there have been other incidents of intimidation of activists by some members of the community.

Last week, a burnt out body, presumed to be the 28-year-old openly lesbian woman, was found in the township of Maokeng.

The victim was burned beyond recognition.

Anti-Gay Pastor Found Guilty Of Child Molestation

Anti-gay pastor Kenneth Adkins from Georgia in the USA who made headlines when he tweeted that gay people who died in the Orlando, Florida, nightclub shooting got what they deserved, was found guilty on Monday of sexually molesting a teenage girl and boy.

Before the clergyman turned himself in last August, he had led congregations in Atlanta and Brunswick, Georgia, as well as in Jacksonville, Florida.

Additional charges were filed after the initial arrest, and Adkins has been held without bail since then.

Romeo and Juliet recast as gay Premier League footballers

To qualify for the Champion’s League or not to qualify?

That is the question in a new production of Romeo and Juliet at the Union Theatre in England, where the star-crossed lovers are recast as two gay Premier League footballers.

The new interpretation, where Romeo and Juliet are two young men trying to make a career in big league football, will examine modern masculinity via the medium of Shakespeare’s verse.

The production will explore the Shakespearean tragedy through live music and physical theatre to try and convey the passion of a football stadium.

The play hopes to emphasise that there are no openly LGBT professional footballers in the UK.

Football will be seen as a religion in the play, with the two lovers trying to progress in their careers against a backdrop of prejudice.
